How did people survive in the dark ages of no eletricity? As the saying goes, "You don't know what you've got till it's gone." We lost ours for 11 days once due to an ice storm, bbbbbrrrrrr, cold. Then once for 3 days in the summer, we roasted. The summertime outage was worse and I don't live in a tropical climate. At least in winter you have body heat. Mom, dad, 2 kids and a dog in the king size bed with sweatshirts and pants, mittens and hats.

I have no idea how any of this was even legal. If that crap was pulled here, the landlord would have gone to jail.
Glad things are back to normal (for what it's worth). Yay....air conditioning!
