gettin' meme-y wit it ...

This is “Let the iPod Describe Your Life” meme, or at least that’s how it’s been explained on other blogs, notably the one from which I stole this, who is the ever lovely and luscious Terry, the Queen of the Dorks.

Here's the deal:

• Open your library on your iPod.

• Put it on “shuffle.”

• Press “play.”

• For every question, type the song that's playing.

• When you go to a new question press the Next button.

Opening Credits: “We’re an American Band” by Grand Funk Railroad.
Well, I AM an American …

Waking Up: “Stand Back” by Stevie Nicks.
Is my morning breath really that bad?

Falling In Love: “Mr. Pitiful” by The Commitments.
LMAO!! Perfect!

Fight Song: “Wild Thing” by The Troggs.
Do I make your heart sing?

Breakup Song: “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell.
Another apropos choice, oh mighty shuffled iPod.

Making Up Song: “Under Pressure” by Queen.
Hmm …

Life's Okay Song: “Take It to the Limit” by The Eagles.
“Peaceful Easy Feeling” woulda been better …

Mental Breakdown: “Intergalactic” by The Beastie Boys.
No clue here. LOL

Driving: “Roadhouse Blues” by The Doors.
Yeah, keep your eyes on the road,
Your hands upon the wheel
Keep your eyes on the road,
Your hands upon the wheel
We're goin' to the Roadhouse
We're gonna have a real
Good time
… I can see that as a good driving song.

Flashbacks: “Maniac” by Michael Sembello.
Well, as you all know, I really am a Steeltown girl on a Saturday night.

Happy Dance: “Rock and Roll” by Led Zeppelin.
It’s been a long time…

Regret: “Voices” by Cheap Trick.
Better choice from this artist would be “Ain’t That a Shame.”

Final Battle: “The Joker” by The Steve Miller Band.
Nothing like a midnight toker for the final battle.

Death Scene: “We Got the Beat” by Go-Go’s.
But not the heartbeat, apparently …

Final Credits: “The Rose” by Bette Midler.
Sappy most!

catching up with an old friend ...

A friend of mine from way back in high school came back to Guam to visit family for about two weeks and we got a chance to meet up a couple of times, eat and catch up with each other and just hang out. It was really nice, as I hadn't seen her since like 1990 or something like that.

She still looks fabulous, even 19 years after she was a bombshell babe in high school, and giving birth to three very adorable children in that span. She credits pilates, so I guess Sass is onto something ... heh.

We had lunch for about an hour and a half the first time, just me and her, and then the next week, on New Year's Day, we got together for dinner with her husband at the Hilton, for their amazing buffet spread (German night, lotsa meat!).

G is one of the people I could always open up to and share pretty much everything; she has that quality about her. We've had some deep, interesting conversations over the years until we kind of drifted apart, as often happens once a friend gets married and starts having a career and kids and that whole shebang. And she was as open with me as I was with her ... I don't really have that level of closeness with any other people right now, outside of one.

Here's us at the hotel's outdoor Tree Bar (yes, there's a giant tree in the middle of the bar) ... ain't she purty? ... (click for the larger version).

the weekend that was ...

• Friday night: Lots of World of Warcraft.

• Saturday: A little more WOW, then into the office to get the Sunday and Monday stuff. After that, dinner for my godsons' birthday, a week early, because their parents are off-island for their actual birthday, which was today, a week before mine. I got them cash and video game store gift cards, both of which they loved. I had ribs and ribs and ribs (combo platter). Afterward, we went bowling at LeoPalace Resort, which was a lot of fun.

• Sunday: Golf with S and godson A — I didn't play too badly, but S had a great game, which made my 95 look ugly; he shot an 89, breaking 90 for the first time in forever. The rest of the afternoon was playing some WOW and napping. Then I got a call from R, my godsons' mom ... she's a little paranoid about things and a major worrier, and was concerned that her sons would be here while her and S were on the same plane ... so I got to be a witness to her will *chills* ... knocked on wood a lot.

That was it ... I do have a couple posts I'm totally planning on writing ... sometime.

Heh.
