salvaged ...

Amazing how working a lot of extra hours on the weekend and feeling all grumpy and "en mood de funk" can all be majorly alleviated by a few hours on the golf course with a good friend and two sweet (usually LOL) boys.

My very long Saturday was washed away at the first tee and forgotten completely by the time I tapped in my bogey putt — evidenced by four straight pars, a long putt to save bogey, and a perfectly hit putt for a BIRDIE (wooohooo!!) on a long par-5 after stiffing a 9-iron to about three feet.

Now I know that most of that, for most of you, read like the adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon -- Waah-waah-waah-waah, waah-waah-waah." But it means I did good to start my round; I ended up just five over par for the front nine, shooting a 41. And though my back nine wasn't great, I managed to shoot well enough to break 90, which is a rarity for me.

So I ended up VERY happy with my round.

And despite a few moments of slight misbehaving and the like from the godsons, a fun time was had by all. The both hit some pretty good shots from the tee now and then, and both holed out some great putts too.

Here's a pic of Steve and the boys, J in the middle and A on the right, on the third tee box.

Ain't those boys the cutest?

Holy shit was it ever bakingly hot and sultrily humid out there today!!

DZ: way to go on the round... isn't great when you start off stong? Everything just seems to fall together.

I played yesterday as well, but not as well as you!!! I started out with a triple, mangaged to get it together, but had way too many doubles...

Answer me this question: How can I hit 2 good shots, be in the rough, just off the green on a 427yd par 4 in 2 (with plenty of green to work with) and wind up with a 6!!! 427 yds in 2, then 4 more to get it in a cup 30ft away?

Here... I'll answer my own question: First, you miss hit the chip... then you "nancy" the first putt, leaving yourself a tough "side door bender" of about 6 ft. Miss that... then tap in for a 6.

That's how.

knight: glad you had a good time ... and I can beat your 6 story. Last week, I was on the green of a par-3 in one, with a 35-foot downhill birdie putt. Misjudged speed of the green and rolled it past the hole ... off the green into a sand trap. Blasted out to 10 feet ... three putted ... fucking triple bogey after having a birdie putt! fuck!!!

Awwww... SAWEET! (a la dude where's my car)

I've only played golf a few times. It is quite lovely. But you have to be in the mood for the long haul. I am more of a putt-putt girl. I love the ridiculous obstacles on the course. And if you've had it, you can just pick up and go and the exit is close.

But maybe one day I will go back to the course.

You'd love my roommate. She works for the LPGA. She's all about golf :)

Those guys are sweet. Well, it sounds like you had a good time "stiffing" the "birdie". There's no wonder so many guys play golf. LOL.
