there's a mantis on my schmantis!!

Well, he was on my desk, keyboard, mousepad and mouse earlier today.

(click the pics for big, detailed images)
I always thought praying mantises (mantii? LOL) were very cool. They're so cool looking, and have those awesome front folding claws, and they can fly. And their heads! Freaky and all alien!
And the female mantis is the epitome of the womanly species. While mating, the female mantis often will swivel her head around and begin eating up -- not eating out -- the male, starting with the head. And the male, being the epitome of the manly species, keeps on fucking her even when his head is completely consumed, that dedicated horndog!

Those things are very cool looking, but they are very mean! Don't play with them... they will attack...

That is very cool, but now it is time to clean your mouse (no, that is not the same as flog the dolphin)

I love those guys. That one's huge though. I found a little baby one in my backyard last summer. I caught him, and I fed him and took care of the little bud (I called him "Moe"). Unfortunately, he died after a couple of weeks. I think I over-watered him. RIP Moe.

Whenever I see a mantis I always have a flash of a documentary I saw with the mantises? Manti? dude what is the plural? Anyway...they were mating and the female was eating his head...and like... ewwwwww...that is some extreme sort of S&M, no? I can't get over those images.

Ummm...if I could stand to be anywhere near bugs of any sort, I'm sure I'd think that's cool. As it stands though, um... ew.
