heigh-ho, heigh-ho

Today was a holiday for my workplace — Good Friday. It goes back decades. Take into account that Guam is about 80 to 85 percent Catholic, and at one time was about 95 percent Catholic.

I like working on holidays, because it means double-time. Extra cash in the paycheck is always nice. Last night I had to work a late shift to cover for one of my staff who was off. Not so nice working your job and then another job ... but sometimes it's gotta be done.

Here's me on the right. Can't you feel how excited I am to be in at the office so late in the evening? Heh.

Those are the main supply cabinets back there, by the way. Pens, notebooks and folders galore.

What's worse is that I still have some work to do before I go to sleep. Gotta do some writing. Two relatively short pieces. And at least I'm somewhat in a writing mood/zone. Plus, the topics don't require tons of research.

So ... I'm gonna get to that. Later folks.

Random Guam Fact Of The Day:
• The predominance of Catholicism on Guam dates back to the Spanish, who shoved every aspect of their culture, including their religion, down the throats of all indigenous people they came across. But then again, so did most European explorers. Fuckers.

so, is it appropriate to go to a strip club ON easter? or will you be waiting until 12:01 am Monday?

enjoy...!

terry: hmm ... truly a deep and ontological question ... but I think that since Jesus washed the feet of a harlot, the least I can do is offer harlots dollar bills ...

yowza ... I'm SO going to hell ... LOL

You might need some new shelves! Or harlots... difficult choice really.

And at least the Spanish didn't shove something else down the throats of the natives!

DZER said...

art: too many shelves, not enough harlots ... story of my life.

and the Spanish shoved pretty much everything down the throats of the indigenous people ... it's pretty staggering how many cultures and people they and others like them decimated and fucked up over the centuries ...

I do hope you are feeling better, DZ...

Dzer, that's responsibility, being in charge of the supplies. LOL.

BTW, what's the jump page? Is it something naughty? ;)

I was wondering about the jump page too!

So what's the other 15-20% of Guam?

i think that 'god' would approve of you passing the wealth along dzer :)

and if that's all it takes to go to hell then everyone i know will be there too.

crscntmoon: I adore the canadians ... *beer smooches*

natalia: you shoulda come over and filled in my shift!!

strumpet: awww ... ya say the nicest things ;)

suze: I'm not in charge of supplies, just near them LOL ... and jump page is journalism lingo. When you read the paper on Page 1 and it says "see story, Page 5" or something like that? The page you go to see is the jump page because the copy "jumps" from one page to that page.

jmai: see above for jump page ... as for the rest of Guam ... the various other branches of Christianity are a big part of that percentage — Lutheran, Baptist, Protestant, Episcopalian, etc. There are also our share of Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc.

sass: oh, there are plenty of other reasons for me to go to hell, let me assure you ... but thanks for the vote of confidence! LOL
