Vomiting and other unpleasantness ...

I'm allergic to something, to some kind of food product, ingredient or additive. Something. Only I don't know what it is.

All I know is that, every once in a while — within an hour of eating — I get sick ... and how.

First, I start feeling hot. My head sweats, and I get a headache. I start feeling queasy, nauseated. My face gets splotchy — like a rashy breakout, but not itchy or painful. I have to get to a bathroom fast, because it always gives me nasty diarrhea ... and that's not an understatement. I mean, I know diarrhea is nasty. But this stuff is LETHAL to others. This has happened to me five times now — yesterday was the fifth — and three times it also involved vomiting. Several times. Once, dry heaves followed. Blech.

The first time I got it was the worst. I had vertigo as well, which I fucking HATE!! I had to crawl to the bathroom and barely got my ass on the seat and a bucket in front of my face for the simultaneous vomiting/liquid shits. Ewwww. I fucking know! But unless you've never experienced, you don't know how bad it really is. If you have experienced that before, imagine adding the room spinning around at the same time — it was VERY DIFFICULT hitting the bucket while keeping my ass on the stool.

The splotchiness persists for a couple of days. Click on the photo above and you can see the red spots. What's weird is that it's confined to my head and face. Nowhere else gets splotchy — not my neck, shoulders, arms, chest or back. Huh.

Also, it takes me about a full 24 hours before I can keep food down again.

I'm going to try to see my doc this week, to see if he can line me up for a allergy test, so I can pinpoint exactly what it is that makes this happen to me. I think it's either Worchestershire Sauce or MSG. We'll see, I guess.

What totally sucks is that up until a year or so ago, this had never happened to me at all.

It makes me wonder ... did cigarette smoking protect me from the allergy? Was there a chemical or something in the smoke or nicotine that protected me?

It's tempting to start up again, if it means I'll never get that sick ever again ... *sigh* ... but I won't. I've come to far to start smoking cigs once more ... as much as I'd like to ... LOL.

Yes, you've come this far....step away from the lighter...I'm sorry to hear about your discomfort (for lack of a better word; and yes, I read the whole thing through - living down south, the idea of a weak stomach dissipates by the time you're 5).

I say visit a suruhanu. What have you got to lose? You'll still go to the doctors, right? So, if you visit a suruhanu, you could let us know how your experience went. Ah ha!

'Cause I know it might not be fun....hee hee hee!

maybe I might call my Auntie Bea ... I think someone from her side of the family is suruhanu ... but if not ... I dunno ... suruhanus still scare me LOL

I'm not sure I got the full visual here, could you possibly be anymore descriptive?

kathi: would you like details on what the vomit and diarrhea looked and smelled like? approximate weight and volume?

oh wait ... sarcasm ... ;)

Damn Dzer, I have had many nights of driving the porcelin bus but never have I had to endure that kind of bodily expulsion.

Good luck determining.

I recommend a fat spliff followed by as much sleep as work will never let you have.

Can't get anything by you, huh?

That's the worst! I'm thinking that it might be the MSG also. That crap is in almost every prepared food. I seriously hope that it's not MSG because you will have a hard time finding food to eat without it. MSG is also an antagonist for migranes.

You definitely had an allergic reaction to something--- did you eat shellfish/strawberries or peanutbutter-or any nuts at all? (I know you're nut into "nuts" per se) but...

Did you try taking Benedryl? I feel for ya, because if I eat any of what I mentioned above, I blow up like a tick and break out in rashes just like that...however, you're pretty brave for posting that picture! ;)

Still love ya *pinch*

Aww Dozr, DAMN me for not checking this last night....

Are you feeling any better hun? Since it's prolly been a day or two since you posted this, I really hope that some good old fashioned rest can help you... really.

Further, I start with crackers... just nibbles, and sips of water. If anyone else mentioned that up in the comments than I apologize... I don't have time to read them all.

Also, straight hydrocortizone cream should assist the rash, and likely not cause any more side effects... some times benedryl or over the counter allergy meds can upset a sad stomach.

I so wish I could kiss ya and make you better... just, brush yer teeth first.

Yes, saltines (nibble no bite)
Water (sip no gulp)
Hydrocortizone straight (no additive)

Should get you straight soon.

Again *well hugs* and I really hope you get to feeling better hun.

*kiss on hot fevered forehead*

deb ~ I don't think dzer believes you. Would it be too much to ask you to prove it? ((((HUGS)))))

hedonist: thanks ... I did do a lot of sleeping this weekend ...

hick: keep it up!

kathi: I'm quick like that ;)

jenn: hopefully I'll find out soon what the deal is ..

gigi: yer welcome ;)

deb: ooh ... a woman who still loves me even when I'm splotchy? *swoon*

naughty one: screw the crackers crap ... I just wait until I'm pretty sure it's safe enough to eat and then dive right in ;) ... but thanks ... and teeth are brushed ... so come here ... heh

kathi: are you asking deb to "prove" her love for me in the carnal sense? if so, are you gonna watch while she does? ;)

I was more like asking her to eat the stuff she's allergic to, to prove that she breaks out and all...and sure, I'll watch her "blow up like a tick" and you can check her out for the rash. Show the love, deb!
